About This Workshop
One of the biggest challenges a team or organization will face is clearly articulating its purpose—its WHY. While it may be felt, it can be difficult to put into words. An organization’s WHY is not about result. Instead, the WHY indicates what inspires your team.
Without a clear articulation of the WHY, it can be difficult to put it into action and nearly impossible to scale. Finding the words for your WHY is the first step in applying it to your team’s daily operations.
We’ve learned that the optimal way to deepen individual awareness and appreciation of the human attributes that inspire a unique culture is through sharing stories that exemplify when the organization is at its best.
In this workshop, a cross-section of leaders will work together to discover and deepen their relationship to your team’s WHY. The first part of the workshop focuses on helping your organization find and articulate its WHY and HOWs in simple language that inspires action. The latter portion is centered on acquiring the tools to bring your organization’s WHY to life.
Key Takeaways
- Deepen your awareness and appreciation of the human attributes that inspire and make your culture and organization unique
- Explore the importance of two interrelated ideas – Contribution + Impact – that makeup a WHY Statement
- Engage in interactive exercises to find and deepen your department’s WHY (purpose) and HOWs (values and leadership behaviors)
- Articulate the WHY and HOWs with draft statements
- Learn how to apply the WHY and HOWs as filters for decision-making, internally and externally
- Connect previous work on the mission/vision/values of your organization to your WHY
